A New Donation Center For Sylvia’s Place

Sylvia’s Place has been lucky over the years to receive sizeable donations from the community. Everything from clothing, food, toys and household goods. After years of “making it work” in the small space we had, Sylvia’s Place Board of Directors decided to come up with a better solution.
After brainstorming with staff it was apparent that an off-site location would benefit three groups; the community, the clients and the staff. The new donation center would help protect clients’ confidentially who reside at the safe house or who engage in non-residential services at the downtown office. The staff would no longer have to break from a client meeting to accept a donation and the community would be provided a convenient location and schedule to make donations, saving them time and frustration.
After scouring the local Allegan area, a location was agreed upon and the clean up began! Hours of volunteered time and donated resources went into revamping the space which officially opened its doors December 1, 2010. Sylvia’s Place would like to thank our Board of Directors and all those involved who made this long time wish come true.
Sylvia’s Place donation center is located at 134 Brady Street in Allegan and is staffed by volunteers. The hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday from 1:00p.m. until 3:30p.m. If you have questions about items that are needed, or if you would like more information,  please call Audrey Hart at 269-685-6978 or Shelly Lampen at 269-751-2932.

Sylvia’s Place has been the recipient of “Clash for Cash” since May of 2008. Over the years the students of Otsego Middle School have raised over $11,000.00 dollars for the children of Sylvia’s Place. We would like to thank you for your support and dedication to our cause.

Special Thanks to Otsego Middle School
