POSITION:  Victim Legal Advocate
Office Location:   Sylvia's Place Administrative Office
Hours:   40 hours per week
       
DESCRIPTION:
Provide education and support services to victims of domestic violence.  Attend court hearings and other legal appts with client.
Fill out and file Personal Protection Orders to the court.

ANSWERS TO:  Executive Director 
 
REQUIREMENTS:  
Previous experience providing casework or similar services.
Ability to work well with other agencies (Court, Police, etc)
Ability to perform duties with little direct supervision
Able to adhere to  strict confidentiality
Valid Driver's License
Proactive in providing advocacy services to client
Willing and able to work occasional evening and weekend
Excellent Oral and Written Skills
Ability to develop and present power point training to community
 
PREFERRED:
Knowledge of the Court System 
Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or related field.  Previous work with domestic violence or related field.

POSITION:  Case Manager 


35 hours per week
 
OVERVIEW:
Provide casework services to clients who are currently staying at the Safe House.  Help them obtain housing, income, diploma/GED, counseling, and any other services they need to become safe and independent.  Provide support and education regarding domestic violence.
 
ANSWERS TO: Safe House Supervisor
 
REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience providing casework services
Valid driver's license 
Ability to complete training
Ability to work well with clients in crisis
Ability to give presentations to community groups
Excellent written and oral communication
Ability to keep excellent records/case files
 
PREFERRED:
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field. 
Understanding of Domestic Violence myths and facts

Domestic Abuse Survivors Support Services
POSITION:  Resident Advocate
 
OVERVIEW:  Provides direct services to clients who are currently staying at Sylvia's Place Safe House.  Provide support and ability to listen.  Provide all daily needs such as food, clothing, transportation, education and support.
 
ANSWERS TO:  Safe House Manager
 
REQUIRED:
Ability to keep strict confidentiality
Work with clients while keeping appropriate boundaries; 
Ability to work with little supervision after training
Valid Drivers License
Willingness and ability to work various shifts
Provide support and care to clients and their children
Strictly follow safety guidelines at Safe House
Ability to work with crisis and trauma victims
HS Diploma or GED
 
 
PREFERRED:
Experience or Education in Social Work or related field
Knowledge of Domestic Violence issues; myths vs facts

POSITION:  On-Call Crisis Worker
 
HOURS:   Vary;  limited hours
 
OVERVIEW:   To provide services to clients who are staying at the Safe House.   To keep the building safe and secure per training and instructions.  To answer the 24-hour crisis line for Victims of Domestic Violence.  
 
Will fill in for regular staff during monthly staff meetings and staff vacations.  
 
ANSWERS TO:  Safe House Manager
 
REQUIRED:
Experience working with crisis / trauma
Ability to stay calm in crisis situations
Ability to work different shifts
Strict adherence to confidentiality laws
HS Diploma or GED
 
PREFERRED:
Knowledge of Domestic Violence issues
